Sister To Sister

Sister To Sister is St. Mark's UM Women's ministry to the Kathy J. Weinman Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence. St. Mark's Women have been involved with supporting the shelter since it was first started and joined a women's auxiliary group called HAVEN. After some years Haven was disbanded. St. Mark's Women wanted to still have a special connection with the Weinman Shelter and started our Sister To Sister ministry.

St. Mark's Women support the Weinman Shelter by collecting personal care items, providing much needed bus passes, and giving a personal touch to the residents by putting together birthday boxes and valentine treats. We also try and fulfill special requests for items from the shelter when asked. For example this spring we collected needed umbrellas for the residents.

Our Sister To Sister coordinator, Ruth Lacy, helps to keep us up-to-date on the Weinman Shelter and how we can be in ministry to the shelter and its residents.

How can you help?

  • Personal care items are always needed. You may drop off any women's personal care items (shampoo, conditioner, brush/comb, soap, feminine products, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc) to a box in the church's mailroom anytime. Please no travel size.
  • Bus passes are always needed to help the residents get to their job, school, interviews, shopping. Please see Ruth Lacy about donating money for bus passes.
