Men's Ministries

Come and enjoy the association with other Christian men and the fulfillment of being in service by being a part of the United Methodist Men's (UMM) group.

Grocery gift cards, or scrip, are sold before and after both services every Sunday. The program is available through Schnucks, Dierberg’s and Shop N’ Save. There is no extra charge, so $50 of scrip costs $50. Grocery stores sell the scrip at a discount, so the UMM makes a profit. This is the single best fund raiser for the UMM and it costs the church member nothing more than the face value of the scrip. One year profits totalling $5000 was given to support youth scholarships, camps, apportionments, and other ministries. The designation is decided by the buyer.

The recycling program is supported by 3 recycling bins in the church parking lot. Two are for paper and one is for aluminum soda cans. This program helps us to be good stewards of the earth and its resources, and provides money for the local food pantry and other mission areas.

United Methodist Men’s (UMM) Group

UMM's Purpose: Helping men to grow in Christ, so others can know Christ.

Any man in the congregation is already a member of the UMM and is invited to become actively involved in one or more places. Come and enjoy the association with other Christian men and the fulfillment of being in service to your church, your community and your God.

Our local UMM unit, active at St. Mark’s since 1957, has monthly executive meetings, monthly weekday breakfast meetings, cooks monthly pancake breakfasts, sponsors recycling programs, sells grocery scrip, holds barbeques, and allows youth to “earn” financial aid for mission trips, camps, and retreats. It also supports district events like potato drops, retreats, camps, and participates in a nation-wide Bowl-a-thon for missions.
